Before I could start walking through West Chester, I needed the proper footwear. I had obviously purchased sneakers for myself in the past, but I usually relied on friends' recommendations or the shoe's look. Since I would be walking 60 miles in the Susan G. Komen walk in October, I knew that the right pair of sneakers was imperative for me.
One of the most well-known of West Chester's local shops is The Chester County Running Store, a specialty athletic shop in the center of town. I would stop there before heading over to DSW in the Concord Shopping Center to see which experience would be best for me.

- I've spent the last two and a half years living in and enjoying the small town of West Chester, PA. Ironically, however, it was not until I recently moved out of town that I realized that I had never fully taken advantage of all West Chester. Now, I'm hoping to revisit the small shops and boutiques that I had taken for granted to attempt to understand how these independently owned stores thrive. By comparing my small town shopping experiences to what I encountered at larger, corporate "super-stores," I hope to explore the pros and cons of both types of shopping.
